Waterfront House, Whakaraupō – Lyttelton
Reflecting the local maritime and coastal vernacular through industrial materiality and native ecosystem planting.
Set on the coastal edge of Whakaraupō - Lyttelton Harbour, this project creates a series of welcoming outdoor amenity spaces for staff and visitors at Lyttelton Port Company’s operational and commercial hub.
The landscaped areas include an entry walkway, a rear lunch courtyard with BBQ facilities, a picnic terrace, and a lawn. The landscape design responds to the contrast between the industrial port setting and the surrounding coastal environment. Together, these spaces provide port workers with places to relax by the water’s edge and enjoy a natural retreat from the indoor office and working port environment.
